It had to be, didn't it?...I can't wait till March 26 for another month starting with M to write a blog on Motivation!


I'm inspired this month by Trisha Goddard's statement, who on entering the Big Brother house last month while receiving palliative care for cancer said...


"Don't be so scared of dying that you become scared of living"


You could apply this reasoning to so many things if you think about it and motivation is one of them.


Lets put this to the test...


  • Don't be so focused on what you can't do, you forget about what you can do.


  • Don't worry about things you haven't got, cherish the things you have.


  • Don't spend time with people who make you unhappy, spend time with people who help you to thrive.


You get the idea.


This simple talking routine can create a more positive focus and boost your motivation levels, bringing clarity & perspective to the world around you.




You can apply a similar technique to the things which may be zapping your energy & motivation, like...


  • Searching for meaning in the meaningless.

  • Resisting changes which are inevitable.

  • Fearing conflict when seeking resolution is what you are actually doing.

  • Stoking the fire when you could put it out.

  • Wanting freedom & autonomy in a job of rules and regulation.

  • Looking for security and stability in a volatile environment.

  • Trying to form personal relationships with people who don't want one.

  • Relying on bonuses at work as the rule rather than the exception.

  • Offering solutions to people who 'enjoy' problems.


Hardly sounds motivating! This is the point though, you are not getting enough of what's important to you and therefore not living your best life, so to be blunt...


What are you going to do about it?!
