Sleeve Notes
OK, so I've finally succumbed to it. TBH I am still somewhat nervous about jumping into Instagram, however I do have a purpose.
I want to find out if I can interest younger adults in coaching. Whether Instagram is the place to do it remains to be seen!
My research tells me my personal account represents my genuine self, therefore in my case there is no need to create a separate business account.
So this blog is one way of holding myself to account as I jump further into the world of social media.
Perhaps you are thinking of jumping in too, so maybe some of my thoughts below will be helpful for you?

Side 1 - Why Instagram now?
I would like to see more young adults (i'm talking 20 to 30) explore coaching as an option, to support their working and/or personal lives.
I can see Mentors, Trainers & Sports Coaches out there, but what about the Coach who can help you make & own decisions that align to what's really important in your life now.
In my coaching conversations I discuss the importance new goals with clients, so it's only fair I walk the talk and have some new ones of my own too!
My big challenge - Posting videos with me in them!
Instagram actually plays into the things I enjoy, creating creative content. Although it's not something I have shared in a large public domain before. Challenge number two!
Side 2 - Why I want to keep it personal
I want to mix coaching posts with some more personal ones. It's a better fit for who I am, both personally and professionally and my hope is it will be engaging with a message to followers and casual observers alike.
There is more scope to use music on a personal account. This will be important for me with my messaging & somewhat exciting (I think!?)
Having one account to manage everything is quite enough!
Side 3 - What could possibly go wrong??!!
Overposting? - No, I'm not one for doing this. Slow and steady, make it count. That's the motto I'm going in with...for now.
Anxious about what people think? - This is a possibility if I over think it. As long as it is and remains enjoyable then that's enough.
Too much cross over with other platforms? - Although it's linked to my website, Instagram posts are for Instagram only.
Following to get numbers up? - No, I want to follow people or organisations because I am genuinely interested in them.
Trying to make a perfect post? - Is there such a thing? What I deem as perfect may not be to others. Anyway, my mantra will be posting things that represent me. So you're likely to see coaching mixed with music, exercise, gardening and maybe a few surprises along the way!
Side 4 - What could possibly go right??!!
It's easier to use than I imagined.
It has lots of tools to help me be creative.
It's a platform for instant engagement.
It opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
People will take something useful from my posts.
The Download
So there it is. I've committed myself to Instagram via this blog.
At some point I will update you on how I've got on.
I know, you may be saying it's no big deal, but actually it is for me (at this moment).
I've caught myself doing quite a bit of procrastinating over this which is not my usual stance, and the time has come to just get on with it.
Now, I've just got to work out how to link my Instagram page to my website.
